"Coral Conservation Exploration Journey" workshop by CUHKCoralAcademy

The Coral Academy staff not only explained the mysteries and characteristics of corals in an easy-to-understand way but also shared valuable conservation knowledge. We visited the coral nursery at the Tung Chung Community Liaison Centre, witnessing firsthand how researchers collect fallen coral fragments from the sea, use micro-fragmentation and fusion techniques, carefully nurture them, and eventually reintroduce them to the ocean. It turns out coral farming is incredibly complex, much harder than imagined!
Most uniquely, we even got to design ocean-themed coral bases and experience underwater ecological monitoring with researchers! All of this proves that learning truly is everywhere, not confined within classroom walls! At CWCC, science is our fundamental and core curriculum, and this workshop perfectly exemplified the importance of applying scientific knowledge to real-world conservation efforts, allowing us to bring textbook learning to life.
